Optimus continue donations to local charities

06 Oct 2016, In The Community

Castletown based Fiduciary and Pension firm Optimus Fiduciaries Limited have again donated money to three local Manx charities.

Through a mixture of dress down day collections, cake days and general office fundraising, the firm raised £1,500 which has been split between Isle of Man Anti-Cancer Association, Cruse Bereavement Care and Guide Dogs for the Blind Association.

“We are delighted to raise money for these three local charities” said Kerry Beattie, Senior Manager in Optimus, “the charities have a personal touch as they have been chosen internally by staff who have a connection with them.

Isle of Man Anti-Cancer Association, which was formed in 1959 have raised and distributed almost £21 million to various UK bodies and hospitals working in the field of cancer research. Closer to home, they also assist a number of local initiatives in conjunction with Government.

Cruse Bereavement Care has been active on the Isle of Man for 28 years and offer a confidential bereavement support service for children and adults. We allocated the funds kindly raised by Optimus towards the 2016 CruzKids residential weekend organised for children to meet others with similar experiences”, Said Amanda Cafearo, Manager at Cruse Bereavement Care IOM, “CruzKids is a programme we run that supports local Children and Young People”.

Finally, The Guide Dogs for the Blind Association who assist both blind and partially sighted users require £50,000 for a life-changing guide dog from birth to retirement.

“This is another part of the ’Optimus In the Community’ initiative where as a firm want to get involved and to give something back to the local community.” Said Brent Thomas, Director in Optimus, “last year the staff painted the railings in Poulsum Park, Castletown and are currently planning another community ‘help day’ before the close of the year.
